Break Tributes #2 "B-boy Gabin, Aktuel Force - Faire kiffer les anges

On french documentary "Faire kiffer les anges" (1996), the legendary b-boy Gabin points to the callus like it’s a badge, but it’s more than proof of pain. It’s proof of time. That spot on the hand doesn’t come from trying breaking. It comes from surrendering to it. From one hundred rounds on the floor. The skin hardens because the body is adapting to a new language it is just beginning to learn.

That callus is a signature. It shows you didn’t just learn moves, you learned how to be one with the floor. In the beginning, you place your hand flat. With time, the hand finds its true position, resting on the inside knuckles. That’s when the floor starts recognizing you, and you become part of the tribe of the floor people.

You can wear fake medals, but you can’t fake the ones the floor leaves in your body.

So you wear them proudly.

Who is Gabin ?

Gabin Nuissier is one of the true pioneers of French hip-hop and breaking. Emerging from the first wave of the movement in the early 1980s, he helped found Aktuel Force, one of the earliest and most influential French breaking crews, born out of the energy of the streets, the Bataclan sessions, and the legendary Paco Rabanne space that helped shape the scene in Paris. What made Gabin and Aktuel Force so important is that they did not just represent the raw spirit of early hip-hop in France — they also helped carry it from the street to the stage, turning breaking into a recognized artistic language through performances, tours, and years of transmission. Gabin’s legacy is not only that of a dancer, but of a builder and cultural link between generations

For this tribute, we took inspiration from one of the scenes in the documentary, when Gabin, from Aktuel Force Crew, says, “if you don’t have this, you’re not a breaker—you’re a liar.”
